Hermes Agent Skills

A collection of 27 hand-written skills for Hermes Agent — the agent harness that also powers Claude Code-compatible skill loading.

Each skill is a directory containing a SKILL.md (YAML frontmatter + markdown body) and, where useful, references/, templates/, or scripts/. Skills are procedural memory: an agent loads one when its trigger matches and then follows the workflow it describes, instead of improvising.

These are working notes distilled from real use, not tutorials. They encode commands that were actually run, the failure modes that were actually hit, and the checks that catch them.

What is in here

Installing

Clone URL: https://git.all4-one.de/Headscracher/hermes-skills-public.git

Referred to as <clone-url> below.

Everything at once

If your skills directory does not exist yet, clone straight into it:

git clone <clone-url> ~/.hermes/skills

Usually it does already exist — the agent seeds its own bundled skills there — and git refuses to clone into a non-empty directory. Clone elsewhere and copy the category directories across:

git clone <clone-url> /tmp/agent-skills
cp -r /tmp/agent-skills/github ~/.hermes/skills/
cp -r /tmp/agent-skills/software-development ~/.hermes/skills/

Copying merges into existing category directories rather than replacing them, so your own skills and the agent's bundled ones stay where they are.

A single skill

Skills are self-contained. Copy just the directory you want:

cp -r /tmp/agent-skills/devops/dockerize-app ~/.hermes/skills/devops/

The agent picks up new skills on its next start.

Why hermes skills tap does not work here

hermes skills tap can only install from GitHub — it talks to api.github.com directly rather than to a generic git remote, so it cannot consume a repository hosted anywhere else. Use git clone or a plain directory copy as shown above.

Compatibility

Written and used against Hermes Agent. Because the format is a plain SKILL.md directory, most of them load unchanged in other Claude Code-compatible skill loaders; skills that name agent-specific tooling say so in their own text.

License

MIT — see LICENSE. Use them, fork them, rewrite them. No attribution needed in your own agent's output.
